Middlebury Police Log: Police recover stolen vehicle

Middlebury police recovered a vehicle on South Pleasant Street on July 6 that had been reported stolen earlier from the South Burlington area. Middlebury police also identified all the occupants of the car and shared that information with the South Burlington PD.

Middlebury police responded to Main Street during around 11:15 a.m. on June 30 on a report argument between two people, one of whom had allegedly brandished a knife. Police said both people had left the scene upon officers’ arrival. 

Middlebury police cited Julian Doner, 21, of Cornwall for driving under the influence, following a stop on Court Street on June 23. Police said Doner refused to provide an evidentiary breath sample.

Middlebury police on June 14 investigated a report of a threat of future school-related violence at Middlebury Union Middle School. 

Middlebury police responded, along with other public safety officials, to a reported accident with injuries on Route 125 East on June 8. Police said a person had driven their vehicle off of the roadway and down a steep embankment.

Middlebury police located, with help from other emergency responders, a person with memory-loss issues who had wandered away from an elder-care facility on May 23.

Middlebury police investigated a stalking complaint in the Seymour Street neighborhood on May 10.

Middlebury police on April 29 responded to Middlebury’s industrial Park where police said someone has placed “disturbing notes” in “multiple offices” off Pond Lane. Employees of the organizations where the notes were placed had found items out of place. 

Middlebury police on April 22 investigated a report of a person standing on the train tracks off Elm and Seymour streets, blocking train travel. Police said the person in question had left upon their arrival.

Middlebury police responded to reports of a “large college party” at the intersection of Foote Street and Route 7 South at around 1 a.m. on Sunday, April 14. Police said they received reports of “dozens” of students standing in the roadway. 

Middlebury police cited Beau A. Lyons, 42, of Middlebury following their investigation of an alleged domestic disturbance in the Kings Row area on April 2.

Middlebury police cited Cormick Cantwell, 40, who is unhoused, for disorderly conduct via electronic means, following an investigation into what police called “an excessive number of abusive calls” to local dispatchers on March 25.

Middlebury police cited Jerry L. Hoffman, 31, of Middlebury for attempted murder, after he allegedly stabbed a man multiple times during an incident on College Street during the early evening of March 20.
