Middlebury Police Log: Man faces charges after alleged assault

After responding to a March 17 report of a domestic disturbance on Valley View Drive, Middlebury police arrested a Middlebury man and filed multiple charges against him following an alleged assault. 

Middlebury police arrested Thomas E. Hynes, 37, of Middlebury on multiple in-state arrest warrants, following an investigation in the Jayne Court neighborhood on March 11. 

Middlebury police last week cited Corrin Malinowski, 27, of Middlebury for cocaine possession and impeding a public officers.

Middlebury police responded along with Middlebury Regional EMS to a North Pleasant Street business after a Feb. 21 report of a person experiencing a drug overdose. 

Middlebury police investigated a burglary at the Rice Restaurant on Seymour Street in Feb. 17.

Middlebury police on Feb. 8 received a report from Vermont Field Sports staff about suspicious behavior in their parking lot off Route 7 South that they believed might have involved drug dealing. 

Middlebury police investigated a report of a vehicle striking a German shepherd dog on Quarry Road at around 6:30 a.m. on Feb. 3. Police said the driver in question hadn’t stopped after striking the dog, who later died at the vet’s office. 

Middlebury police last Tuesday responded to a report of a body located in a vehicle on Case Street. 

Middlebury police helped Counseling Service of Addison County officials with a client who had been experiencing a mental health crisis in the Main Street area on Jan. 17.

Middlebury police received a report about a raccoon allegedly chasing some students on the Middlebury Union Middle School campus on Jan. 12. Police said they found no raccoon.

Middlebury police cited Timothy Farr, 69, of Middlebury for second-degree aggravated domestic assault and unlawful trespass, following investigation of an alleged home invasion and assault at a Court Street home on Jan. 7. 

Middlebury police launched an investigation into the cause of a car-versus-tree accident off Case Street on Dec. 27. Police said the driver was taken to Porter Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Middlebury police on Friday, Dec. 23, responded along with fire and public works officials to multiple reports of downed trees and power/cable wires because of stormy weather.

Middlebury police are warning residents to be vigilant about criminals “fishing” in blue mail collection boxes in search of mail that might include checks. 

Middlebury police cited Ashley E. Ross, 32, of Essex for driving under the influence, following their investigation of a car crash on North Pleasant Street on Dec. 6.
