Local man cited after Rt. 7 stabbing

Middlebury police cited Joshua Puma for 1st degree aggravated domestic assault after he allegedly pepper sprayed and then stabbed a family member at a Route 7 home Wednesday evening.

A person driving a municipal work vehicle was accused of speeding by a bystander, after that person’s partner was issued a citation for an incident involving the operator.

Vermont State Police have dealt with a rash of typical criminal activity, including impaired driving, speeding and a car crash.

Troopers arrested a driver on suspicion of DUI, while a deputy remained with the vehicle until it was towed.

Police also took into protective custody a baby bunny that had been turned into headquarters.

Three Addison County residents were taken into custody by federal immigration officials on Tuesday.

Among the items police did deal with was helping a person by providing information on how to file a complaint with the Vermont Human Rights Commission.

The woman was cited for allegedly damaging security cameras and apartment windows.

Police also recently recovered an ATM they believe is connected to a theft in Bristol.

Police reported a relatively quiet Independence Day Weekend except for two incidents of assault.

The suspect is due to answer charges in court on Monday, June 29.   

This is just the most recent spate in what has been a months-long issue.

During that week, police also responded to two incidents involving suspicious activity and two thefts.

A Bristol man who had two previous domestic assault convictions was arrested last Thursday.
