Subscriptions

Why is my paper not here when it's supposed to arrive?

We rely on the United States Postal Service to deliver papers in a timely fashion. We have tried many alternatives including getting the paper to the local sorting facility early and it doesn’t always work the way we hope it would. We understand how frustrating it can be, but the USPS is working hard to deliver your news!

How much does a subscription cost?

Subscription rates are as follows:

  • Standard in-state subscription – $50/year ($45/year for seniors)
  • Standard out-of-state/seasonal subscription – $60/year ($55/year for seniors)
  • Online-only subscription – $44/year ($40/year for seniors)

Standard subscriptions include print editions mailed to you each week and full digital access. Please click here to subscribe or give us a call at 802-388-4944.

What is considered seasonal?

Our seasonal rate is for anyone that is traveling out of Vermont within the United States for 2-6 months. If you would like to receive the paper at your out-of-state address, we are more than happy to do so, however when you renew your subscription you will need to pay the out-of-state/seasonal rate. We are also more than happy to suspend the paper and extend your subscription expiration date.

How do I know if I'm enrolled in subscription auto-renew?

When you renew your subscription online with a credit card, you are automatically signed up for automatic renewal. If you do not want this option, please either email [email protected] or call Sadie at 802-388-4944 ext 104.

How do I purchase a gift subscription?

If you are a current subscriber, just login and click Subscribe. When you are prompted at checkout, be sure to unclick and reclick the Ship to a different address box, then enter the gift recipient’s information and add their email address where it asks “Is this a gift?”. If you are not a current subscriber, simply click Subscribe and follow the prompts. Questions? Call Sadie at 802-388-4944 ext 104.

General

What is the coverage area of the Addison Independent?

News coverage across all 23 towns in Addison County with occasional coverage for statewide stories that have local interest (ex: agriculture policy, state government, etc.). Only opinion pieces regularly extend beyond the local reach.

What is the weekly circulation?

As of May 2023, roughly 6000 copies of the paper are printed each week. That makes an estimated 15,000 weekly readers, assuming the industry standard of 2.5 readers per copy of the paper.

Who owns the Addison Independent?

The Addison Independent is a family-owned newspaper. Angelo Lynn has been the owner and publisher since 1984. Two of his daughters, Elsie Lynn Parini and Christy Lynn, are associate publishers eager to carry forward the business.

How is the Addison Independent funded?

As with most independent newspapers, funding is reliant primarily on local advertising dollars (please support advertisers you see in our paper!). The cost of a subscription exclusively covers the cost to print and mail that copy of the paper but does not support business operations. Individuals and businesses are invited to become members to help support the operations of the paper beyond simply the cost of their subscription. Becoming a member can help add resiliency and strengthen our commitment to quality local journalism. Contact Christy at [email protected] to learn how to become a member.
