Middlebury Police Log: Cash missing from a local business

MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police received a report about the theft of an undisclosed amount of cash from Danforth Pewter on Seymour Street on Oct. 5. Police believe the theft occurred while the business was closed.

In addition to conducting daily foot patrols downtown to monitor members of the local houseless community, Middlebury police last week:

• Received a report about a runaway juvenile in the South Leno Lane area on Sept. 30.

• Were informed that someone had vandalized a window on a Court Street building on Sept. 30.

• Cited Nicholas Pecor, 22, of Panton for driving with a criminally suspended license on Seymour Street Extension on Sept. 30.

• Received complaints about three dirt bikes being used illegally on Seymour Street Extension and Wright Park on Sept. 30.

• Responded to a report of a cyclist colliding with a car at the intersection of Court and Cross streets on Sept. 30.

• Received a report that a vehicle had been stolen from Stone Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram on Route 7 South on Sept. 30.

• Helped a Cottage Lane resident whose home had filled with smoke following a cooking accident on Oct. 1.

• Helped a stranded motorist on Route 7 South on Oct. 1.

• Responded to a report of metal on Route 7 South near the intersection of Three Mile Bridge Road on Oct. 1.

• Received a report that a vehicle had been stolen from Middlebury College’s Shannon Street parking lot on Oct. 1.

• Assisted with a “juvenile issue” at Middlebury Union Middle School on Oct. 1.

• Responded to a report of a local man receiving threats via social media on Oct. 2.

• Stood vigil on Merchants Row while Middlebury Regional EMS responded to a service call on Oct. 2.

• Investigated a report of an assault behind the Ilsley Library on Oct. 2.

• Responded to a reported dispute between some Court Street neighbors on Oct. 2.

• Responded to a reported of a verbal dispute between some people behind the Ilsley Library on Oct. 2.

• Were asked to look for a driver who had allegedly been “tailgating aggressively” on Court Street Extension on Oct. 2.

• Investigated a report on Oct. 3 of a man allegedly yelling at vehicles on Bakery Lane and Main Street on Oct. 3.

• Responded to a report of a verbal argument between some people in the Bakery Lane area on Oct. 3.

• Investigated a complaint about a man with a gun exiting a truck on Foote Street on Oct. 3.

• Received a report that an idling, unoccupied vehicle had been stolen from a Court Street parking lot on Oct. 3. No further details were provided on the vehicle.

• Assisted a local man who believed his bank account had been hacked on Oct. 3.

• On Oct. 4, helped a local parent locate their child, who hadn’t been responding to messages.

• Investigated an Oct. 4 report about a local resident allegedly being victimized in an online Facebook Marketplace scam.

• Helped MREMS get into a locked home on Fields Road to help a patient on Oct. 4.

• Served a no-trespass order on a man who had allegedly tried to steal alcohol from a MacIntyre Lane business on Oct. 4.

• Investigated a report of a vehicle leaving the scene of an accident off Route 7 South on Oct. 4.

• Assisted MREMS with an unresponsive patient in the Case Street area on Oct. 4.

• Responded to what police described as a “juvenile issue” in the John Graham Court neighborhood on Oct. 4.

• Assisted emergency responders with an overdose case on Bunny Lane in Weybridge on Oct. 5.

• Gave advice to a person who complained of harassing behavior outside of Middlebury on Oct. 5.

• Responded to a shoplifting complaint at Hannaford Supermarket on Oct. 5.

• Received a noise complaint about a permitted party at a North Pleasant Street address at around 4:40 p.m. on Oct. 5.

• Assisted Vergennes police in its search for a stolen vehicle believed to have been parked in the Court Street area on Oct. 5.

• Helped locate a runaway juvenile in the Basin View Road area on Oct. 5.

• Responded to an unlawful mischief complaint in the Washington Street area on Oct. 6.

• Provided a jump start to a stranded driver on Court Street on Oct. 6.
