Vergennes Police Log: Man cited for recent break-ins

Vergennes police on Nov. 30 cited a Waltham man for recent break-ins at the Vergennes Animal Hospital and the Vergennes DDS dental practice. 

On Nov. 19, Vergennes police cited a Monkton man for lewd and lascivious conduct with a child and aggravated sexual assault.

Vergennes police and local social service agencies worked last week on a case in which a homeless individual allegedly had been sleeping in the unlocked lobby of the Walker Avenue residential complex.

Vergennes police responded to an Oct. 30 family fight on Booska Court and ended up citing a Vergennes resident for domestic assault in the presence of a child.

Vergennes police recently responded to three verbal domestic disputes on First Street, two of them involving the same couple on two consecutive days.

On Oct. 16 Vergennes police handled a stolen vehicle complaint that resulted in a New York resident being cited for operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent.

Vergennes police on Oct. 12 for the second time in recent weeks took a credible eyewitness report of people climbing over or slipping under the construction fencing at the downtown Vergennes Grand senior housing project worksite on North Street. 

Vergennes police on Oct. 3 worked with Middlebury, Vermont State and Bristol police on a case in which a Jeep was stolen at 4 a.m. from a Middlebury convenience store on Court Street.

Several calls related to arguing couples and alleged related poor behavior from men kept Vergennes police busy this past week.

Vergennes police recently had a call reporting another incident of what they called an increasingly common email scam. A resident who did not fall for the scam on Sept. 16 reported receiving an email with a photo of his home and mailbox attached. 

With financial backing from local donors and logistical support from lu*lu ice cream, Vergennes police this past Saturday worked a community outreach detail dishing out free ice cream to local kids and their families.

Vergennes police last week dealt with an alleged case of domestic assault that also included a charge of sexual assault, and in a separate case cited another individual for a sexual assault. In both cases a third party’s call sparked police involvement.

Vergennes police on Friday, Aug. 30, cited a man with a city address for suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs. 

Vergennes police went a little bit out of their way on Aug. 23 to help a dog trapped in a crawl space under a Greenbush Road home in Ferrisburgh.

The Vergennes Police Department has been working hard to keep city streets safe during the month of August.
