Women’s lax reaches semis of NCAAs

The Colby Mules played an inspired game in Sunday’s NCAA Division III quarterfinal against their undefeated and top-ranked host, the Middlebury College women’s lacrosse team.

Middlebury Union High School girls’ lacrosse coach Dena Greenman acknowledges her team’s season doesn’t look great on the scoreboard, but heading into the past couple weeks she said the Tigers have  maintained a positive outlook and improved steadily. 

The Middlebury Union High School boys’ lacrosse team took two out of three recent games to improve to 11-4 heading into the Tigers regular season finale on Friday at defending champion Champlain Valley.

The Mount Abraham-Vergennes high school girls’ lacrosse team won two out of three recent games, and at 8-5 remain in position for a top-four seed in the upcoming Division II playoffs.

No. 3 ranked RIT bolted to a 6-1 first-quarter lead on the way to a 16-6 victory over the No. 5 Middlebury College men’s lacrosse team in an NCAA Division III quarterfinal played on Saturday at Tufts University.

The Mount Abraham-Vergennes cooperative boys’ lacrosse team maintained its winning ways between May 17 and 23, earning three victories, all against Division II teams, to remain in the thick of the race for the top seed in D-III.

The Tigers never trailed, but they never put away a team they defeated by 17-2 in Woodstock a month ago, and when given the chance the Wasps rallied with three straight fourth-quarter goals to force overtime. 

The Middlebury College men’s lacrosse team won two games this past weekend at an NCAA Division III regional hosted by Union College.

The Mount Abraham-Vergennes girls’ lacrosse team improved to 6-4 with a pair of recent one-sided road victories.

The Middlebury Union High School girls’ lacrosse team dropped three road games between May 10 and 15; their record fell to 1-9 for the season. 

The Mount Abraham-Vergennes boys’ lacrosse team outlasted host Burlington on Monday, 11-8, improving to 6-2 in the process. 

The Middlebury College women’s lacrosse team breezed past visiting SUNY-Geneseo on Sunday, 19-4, in a second-round NCAA Division III contest.

Early in the second quarter of the Middlebury Union High School boys’ lacrosse team’s Monday home game vs. Burr & Burton Academy, the Bulldogs took advantage of Tiger turnovers to score two transition goals and take their first lead of the game, 5-4, with … (read more)

The Mount Abraham-Vergennes boys’ lacrosse team claimed a pair of home victories in recent action, including a win over defending champion Montpelier in a rematch of the 2022 Division III final. The Eagles improved to 5-2 with the two wins. 

The Middlebury Union High School girls’ lacrosse team dropped three games between May 3 and 9. The Tigers’ record dropped to 1-7 for the season with the setbacks.
