Middlebury Police Log: Police respond to mental health crisis

Middlebury police responded to separate reports of a man having a mental health crisis in the College Street and South Village Green areas on June 11.

Middlebury police responded to a report of a man experiencing a mental health crisis in the Shannon Street area on June 2. Police said they took the man to Porter Hospital for evaluation.

Middlebury police cited Matthew Hall, 47, of Middlebury for two counts of aggravated disorderly conduct, one count of threatening a police officer, and resisting arrest, after responding to a disorderly conduct complaint in the Mill Street area on May 30.

Middlebury police cited Kano Duffner-Myers, 27, of Holbrook, N.Y., for driving under the influence following a traffic stop at the intersection of Court Street and Creek Road shortly after 11 p.m. on May 20.

Middlebury police took into custody a woman  who was experiencing a mental health crisis during this past Thursday afternoon. She had allegedly brandished a knife at authorities outside of 15 Court St. on May 15.

Middlebury police responded to a single-vehicle crash that caused some mayhem in the Case Street area on May 6. Police at around 4:20 a.m. received a report of a man driving his vehicle off the road and hitting a utility pole, snapping it in half.

Middlebury police on April 30 arrested and cited a Rutland woman for allegedly trying to steal a generator from the Tractor Supply business on Foote Street.

Middlebury police tried to stop a group of motorcyclists who were riding in what police described as a “grossly negligent manner” near the intersection of Route 7 and Cady Road on April 22. Police said the motorcyclists sped away from the scene.

Early on the morning of April 11, Middlebury police and Middlebury Regional EMS ambulance staff responded to a report that a 23-year-old Middlebury College student had sustained “suspected internal injuries” after falling 45 feet from the roof of a buildi … (read more)

Middlebury police deployed the department’s K-9 team on a vehicle during a traffic stop at the intersection of Route 7 and Willow Drive on April 1.

Middlebury police loaned the department’s K9 team to Vermont State Police at a vehicle stop on Route 7 on March 25. Police said K9 Guinness alerted on the vehicle, prompting police to seek a search warrant for the vehicle.

Middlebury police cited Gina Sherwood, 41, of Middlebury for suspicion of driving under the influence. The citation follow a stop on East Main Street on March 17.

Middlebury police on March 6 took into custody a man they described as a “transient of Middlebury” following an incident in the Route 7 area south of the village.

Middlebury police cited Wilmar Santillan, 30, of Essex for driving under the influence, following a stop at the intersection of Route 7 and Happy Valley Road on March 3.
