Middlebury Police Log: Essex man cited for DUI after traffic stop
MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police cited Wilmar Santillan, 30, of Essex for driving under the influence, following a stop at the intersection of Route 7 and Happy Valley Road on March 3.
Police said they measured Santillan’s blood-alcohol content at 0.105%; the legal limit for driving is 0.08
In other action last week, Middlebury police:
• Spoke on Feb. 24 with a Jackson Lane resident about a neighbor’s alleged confrontational behavior.
• Took into protective custody an intoxicated man who had reportedly been drinking alcohol in McDonald’s Restaurant on Feb. 24. Police took the man to a detox facility.
• Helped a delivery driver who’d been bitten by a dog while delivering a mattress in the Thomas Street area on Feb. 24.
• Helped a man who had been experiencing a mental health crisis in the Happy Valley Road area on Feb. 24.
• Loaned the department’s K9 team to assist Vermont State Police with a drug search of a vehicle in the Case Street area on Feb. 25.
• Assisted emergency responders on a medical call to a Munson Road location on Feb. 26.
• Enforced the town’s overnight winter parking ban on College Street on Feb. 26 and 28, on Mill Street on Feb. 27, and in downtown on March 1.
• Received a complaint about littering in The Centre parking lot on Feb. 27.
• Investigated a retail theft from a Foote Street business on Feb. 27.
• Received a complaint on Feb. 27 about vehicles in the Mill Street parking lot that had allegedly been abandoned.
• Helped Vergennes police search for a stolen vehicle in the Wright Park area on Feb. 28.
• Responded to a dispute between two tenants of a Court Street apartment on Feb. 28.
• Assisted emergency responders on a medical call to a Grandview Avenue location on Feb. 28.
• Checked on Feb. 28 a homeless individual who has been living in a tent off Merchants Row.
• Took, to the Charter House Emergency Shelter, a drunken man found in the Court Street area on March 1.
• Helped Brandon police take a domestic assault suspect into custody on March 1.
• Investigated an alleged retail theft at a Court Street business on March 1.
• Received a complaint about people arguing on Main Street on March 1. Police said the people in question had left upon their arrival.
• Assisted Vermont State Police with a drunken driving stop on Route 7 in New Haven on March 2.
• Were informed about the potential violation of a protection order in the Jayne Court neighborhood on March 2. Police said the case is under investigation.
• Checked on the welfare of residents in the South Village Green and Grand View Road areas on March 2.
• Investigated the untimely death of a person in the South Village Green neighborhood on March 2. Police said the deceased — 63-year-old Anne M. Clark — appeared to have died from natural causes.
