Middlebury Police Log: Officers cite man for assault
MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police on March 6 took into custody a man they described as a “transient of Middlebury” following an incident in the Route 7 area south of the village.
They then cited Dillon M. MacDougall, 27, for simple assault and released him, with the citation ordering him to appear in court at a later date.
In other action between March 3 and 9, Middlebury police conducted 34 traffic stops, dealt with five false alarms, and:
On March 3:
• Cited Wilmar Santillan, 30, of Essex for driving under the influence of alcohol after a traffic stop on Route 7. Police allege his blood-alcohol content tested at 0.105%, higher than the 0.08% legal limit for driving.
• Investigated a motor vehicle crash on Court Street.
• Responded to a report that proved to be false that someone was being held against their will in the basement of a condominium on Woodbridge Lane.
• Looked into a report of suspicious activity on Court Street.
• Helped Vermont State Police look for a car being operated erratically on Court Street.
• Issued a no-trespass notice on behalf of Hannaford Supermarket.
• Responded to a parking lot fender-bender off Route 7 South.
On March 4:
• Helped a resident across an icy sidewalk to their vehicle on Maple Street.
• Began investigating a retail theft from a Court Street business.
• Began investigating an alleged road rage incident on Seymour Street.
On March 5:
• Received information from another agency about an individual who was threatening others.
• Helped the Charter House remove an individual who had violated a no-trespass order.
• Responded to a car accident on Porter Drive.
• Made a welfare check in a Route 7 South parking lot that police said was unfounded.
• Accepted ammunition dropped off to be disposed of.
• Investigated an accident at the intersection of Cross and South Pleasant streets in which a pedestrian sustained minor injuries when stuck by a vehicle.
On March 6:
• Looked into a report of suspicious activity at Shaw’s supermarket.
• Took a report for insurance purposes of an accident on Charles Avenue.
• Responded to a report of disorderly conduct on South Pleasant Street.
• Took a report of an accident on Exchange Street.
• Referred a case involving alleged sexual offenses to the Addison County Unit for Special Investigations.
On March 7:
• Checked out a report of a disturbance in the Weybridge Street and College Street area.
• Handled a noise complaint on Woodbridge Lane.
• Took a report of an accident on Hepburn Road.
• Joined EMTs at a medical call on North Pleasant Street.
• Responded to a motor vehicle complaint on Route 7 South.
• Checked out a report of a suspicious person downtown. Police spoke to the person and determined there was no problem.
• Investigated a one-car accident on Route 7 North.
• Went to Main Street to try to find an individual with a bail warrant.
• Dealt with a juvenile issue on Seymour Street Extension.
• Responded to a motor vehicle complaint on Seymour Street Extension.
• Enforced the town’s downtown winter parking ban.
On March 8:
• Dealt with a mental health call on Jayne Court.
• Responded to a report of a domestic disturbance on John Graham Court.
• Responded to a report of a domestic assault on Valley View Drive.
• Checked the welfare of a woman on Case Street.
On March 9:
• Escorted the Middlebury Union High School girls’ hockey team bus from the high school to the town line; the Tigers were on the way to a championship game in Burlington.
• Retrieved drug paraphernalia from a Case Street driveway.
• Checked on a man who was parked at a closed business.
• Checked out a vehicle with its hazard lights flashing parked at a closed Route 7 South business.
