Panther women’s hockey falls in national semifinal

An outstanding Middlebury College women’s hockey team played NESCAC rival Amherst to a scoreless tie for two periods before the Mammoths earned a 3-1 win at a Friday game in Wisconsin.

The Middlebury College women’s hockey team will make its 12th trip to the NCAA Division III final four this weekend after defeating Nazareth University, 1-0, this past Saturday in a quarterfinal matchup. Next up is a familiar foe — Amherst.

The No. 4 Middlebury College women’s hockey hosted No. 12 Nazareth in an NCAA quarter-final on Saturday. After beating the Golden Flyers, the Panthers will face NECAC nemesis Amherst in an NCAA semi-final this weekend.

The NCAA Division III championship dreams of the Middlebury College women’s hockey team were dashed on Friday by the glove, blocker and pads of Elmira goalie Chloe Beaubien. The Panthers bowed out of the tournament in the semifinal.

Panthers avenge two regular-season losses by knocked off host Plattsburgh, 2-0, on Saturday. Middlebury plays Elmira in the NCAA Final Four on Friday.

Middlebury women’s hockey flexed its muscles in a first-round NCAA Division III NCAA game vs. Western New England on Wednesday. Next up will be a more challenging foe: Plattsburg.

The Middlebury College women’s hockey outplayed and outshot visiting Plattsburgh in Sunday’s final of the Panther-Cardinal Classic. Nevertheless, the Cardinals went home the winners.

Middlebury College women’s hockey will get another shot at the NCAA title; they will host a tournament game on Wednesday.
