The town on Nov. 22 purchased 450 acres of forestland from the A. Johnson Company, conserving the land with the Vermont Land Trust and establishing the Monkton Town Forest. 

BSA Troop 525 is once again selling Christmas trees and wreaths at 265 Mountain Road. Self-service, for your convenience on the honor system to pay, will begin on Nov. 30 with someone there every weekend if you need help from 9 a.m. till 4 p.m.

All are welcome to go to the Russell Memorial Library for a presentation by the 802 Homeschool Group on Friday, Nov. 22, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. This presentation is from Project Microscope.

The Monkton selectboard has at recent meetings discussed a couple of projects aimed at improving or constructing sports facilities in town.

On Thursday, Oct. 24, join in with others at the Russell Memorial Library for the last class in the Plant Medicine series — Winter Health Medicine Cabinet with Julie Mitchell. This class is limited to 12 people so you must register to attend.

The Russell Memorial Library’s popular “meet the author” series, held last Thursday evening at the Monkton Town Hall, saw the Community room fill up fast and by the appointed start time it was down to standing room only.
