Vergennes Police Log for Mar. 21

Between March 11 and 17 Vergennes police handled a variety of incidents, including looking into allegations of contractor fraud and simple assault, and directing traffic around a disabled truck downtown.

At around 11:30 p.m. this past Saturday night, Vermont State Police investigated a suspicious vehicle on Stage Road near the intersection of Route 7 in Ferrisburgh. Troopers found the driver passed out behind the wheel and eventually cited him.

Middlebury police on March 15 went to North Pleasant Street at a little after 11:30 p.m. and arrested Moriah Donahue, 36, of Middlebury for an active instate arrest warrant. 

Bristol police responded to multiple dog complaints in recent weeks, a couple of which are expected to be reviewed at upcoming hearings with the town’s selectboard.

Vermont State Police and Middlebury police working together recovered a trailer stole  from an Ferrisburgh man’s yard.

Middlebury police cited Michael G. Mulligan, 44, of Bristol for driving under the influence, following a single-vehicle crash on Painter Road on March 9. Police said Mulligan refused to submit to a breath test.

Vergennes police on Feb. 29 were informed by a city resident she had been the victim of a scammer who called and posed as a member of  Best Buy’s Geek Squad. 

Vermont State Police late last month arrested a Hyde Park man at a Ferrisburgh car dealership and cited him for driving under the influence and several drug possession charges.

Middlebury police stood by while a mental health counselor assisted a man who had been threatening self-harm in the Abbey Pond Trail area on March 2.

Bristol police on Feb. 22 investigated a domestic assault on Adirondack View. In the end, police cited Devin Humiston, 25, and Eleni Brouillard, 21, both of Bristol, for domestic assault.  

A former long-term Middlebury College information technology specialist was sentenced on Feb. 22 to almost seven years in federal prison for receipt of child pornography in a sophisticated and significant child sexual abuse material case.

Vergennes police are evaluating whether a man they found wandering through the Auto Creek parking lot on Sunday and looking into cars might have stolen something. An investigation is ongoing, they said. 

A Middlebury woman and a Middlebury man in a stolen car on Monday night led Vermont State Police on a wild chase in which they swapped positions as driver and passenger while the car was in motion.
