MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police cited Mathew Billings, 36, of Cornwall for driving with a criminally suspended license and with a stolen license plate, following a traffic stop on Court Street on Nov. 17.
In other action last week, Middlebury police:
• Received a report about a vehicle allegedly “doing doughnuts” in a municipal parking lot at around midnight on Nov. 11. Police said the vehicle had left upon their arrival.
• Responded to a trespassing complaint at a Court Street residence on Nov. 11.
• Helped find a child who had walked away from a foster parent in the Court Street area on Nov. 11.
• Checked on a local man who had allegedly talked about harming himself on Nov. 12.
• Responded to a noise complaint in the Cedar Court neighborhood on Nov. 12.
• Served a final abuse order on a man in the North Pleasant Street area on Nov. 13.
• Helped calm an out-of-control student at Mary Hogan Elementary School on Nov. 13.
• Towed several vehicles that were in violation of the town’s winter parking ban on Academy Street at 12:07 a.m. on Nov. 13. Middlebury police reminds drivers that the town’s winter parking ban took effect Nov. 1 and extends through April 1. The ban prohibits parking between midnight and 6 a.m. on town streets and in municipal parking lots. Vehicles parked in violation of the ban are subject to ticketing, towing, and impounding at the owner’s expense.
There are designated overnight parking areas in the lower municipal lot off of Bakery Lane and the Frog Hollow Lot on Mill Street, that are excluded from the parking ban. Signs are posted to designate the excluded areas.
• Responded to a report of a commercial bus that had become stuck in the entrance of the Courtyard By Marriott hotel off Court Street Extension on Nov. 14. Police said a towing company was able to move the bus back onto the roadway.
• Received a report about people allegedly looking into the windows of a Cedar Court home on Nov. 14.
• Received a report about a vehicle leaving the scene of an accident on Washington Street on Nov. 14.
• Investigated report of three students in the John Graham Court neighborhood who had not shown up for school on Nov. 14.
• Ticketed a minor for being in possession of tobacco on the Middlebury Union High School campus on Nov. 14.
• Ticketed several vehicles for being in violation of the town’s winter parking ban on Merchants Row at around 12:21 a.m. on Nov. 14.
• Were informed of the attempted theft of wood pellets from an Exchange Street business on Nov. 15.
• Launched an investigation on Nov. 15 into an alleged physical fight between two MUHS students.
• Received a report that two rifles had been stolen from a Route 7 North home on Nov. 15. Police were still waiting for a report on the description of the rifles as of this week.
• Responded to a report of a woman experiencing a mental health crisis at a Court Street apartment on Nov. 17.  Police said the woman was taken to Porter Hospital to meet with counselors.
• Served a no-trespass order on Nov. 17 on a man who was suspected to have stolen something from Hannaford Supermarket.
• Investigated a verbal dispute between an estranged couple on the Court Street area on Nov. 17.
• Assisted a person who was having difficulty breathing in the Route 7 South area on Nov. 18. Police said they helped the person until Middlebury Regional EMS officials arrived.
