We’ve long admired the creation of MiniBury, an online source for all-things to do with raising kids in the greater-Middlebury and Addison County area. For the past eight years it has been a valued resource among that ever-changing cohort of county residents, but it’s required much of the volunteers dedicated to compiling and organizing its information.
Starting with today’s issue, we’re pleased to let our readers — and the general community — know that information will continue to be compiled and organized in much the same way, but now with the support of the Addison Independent. Our digital editor, Megan James, has been instrumental in the production of MiniBury and bringing it in under the wings of the Independent.
“The site was started in 2012 by local mom Eliza Eaton,” James recalls. “She wanted a one-stop shop for all things kid-related in Addison County — a calendar of family-friendly events, playgroups and story times; a guide to summer camps; lists of afterschool activities; etc. She handed the site over to me (and two other local parents, who have since parted ways from the site) a couple years ago, and I’ve been doing my best to keep it alive and relevant in my ‘free time.’
“It always seemed like a perfect fit for the Addison Independent,” she added, “a way to connect with a younger (more sleep-deprived) demographic. And now we’re making it happen!”
