VUHS and Tiger boys’ soccer wins; Eagles tie Milton
ADDISON COUNTY — In local high school boys’ soccer, all on Tuesday, Middlebury and Vergennes picked up road victories, while Mount Abraham settled for a home tie.
Otter Valley’s Tuesday game at West Rutland was postponed due to an unplayable field.
TIGERS
The Tigers earned a 3-0 win at Spaulding, improving to 5-2 in the process, good for third place in Division II. Owen Palcsik’s goal, set up by an Eben Jackson cross, gave MUHS the lead midway through the first half. In the second half Abel Anderson’s unassisted goal made it 2-0, and Alex Bleich capped the scoring on a feed from Frank Wolff.
In goal for the Tigers Owen Lawton made one save in the first half, and Logan Pierson-Flagg and Antonio Abdul Sater shared time in the second half without being tested. Levi Hilton-VanOsdall made 10 saves for the winless Tide.
COMMODORES
VUHS snapped a losing skid and avenged an earlier home setback by blanking host Missisquoi, 2-0. Jacob Kadric and Josias Salomao found the net for VUHS, and newly installed starting goalie Jeffrey Stearns stopped six shots as the Commodores improved to 2-6 with their first win in five outings.
EAGLES
The Eagles took a 4-0 first-half lead over visiting Milton, but the Yellowjackets roared back to earn a 4-4 tie that left both teams with 5-1-1 records. Mount Abe is in fifth place in D-II, and Milton in sixth in a tight race.
Branden Reynolds scored a hat trick and now has 12 goals in seven games for the Eagles. Eric McKean set up two of his goals and assisted Wyatt Thompson’s strike. Silas Burgess also assisted a Reynolds’ score, and Eagle goalie Ethan Dewitt made 10 saves. Zach Logan had a goal and an assist to lead the Milton rally, and two Yellowjacket keepers combined for three saves.
The Eagles will visit the Commodores on Saturday afternoon.
