VUHS junior wins D-III track title, many Commodores set personal bests at state

Twenty-one Commodore athletes ran, hurdled and threw at the meet, setting a collective 21 personal bests across 12 running events and one throwing event, despite the hot and sunny weather.

The team is going into the quarterfinal round with a 4-10 record and two recent wins under their belts.

Both local teams nabbed top three playoff seeds.

Three local high school teams earned top 3 seeds for this week’s playoffs.

The VUHS nine have one game left this season, and a 2-10 record.

The Tigers and Commodores both found themselves in nailbiters in the past week.

The team scored 14 runs on the Commodores with a series of singles and doubles.

Mt. Abe and VUHS athletes competed at Milton and Champlain Valley Union this past week.

MUHS defeated Spaulding, 24-16, and VUHS lost to Richford, 23-11.

The D-II Mount Abe-Vergennes team overcame the D-I Comets 7-4 to open the season.
