Girls’ tennis nets season’s first victory

The Middlebury Union High School girls’ tennis team broke through for its first victory of the season, knocking off host BFA-St. Albans on Monday, 4-3, after falling short in two earlier road matches late last week.  

The Middlebury Union High School boys’ tennis team improved its record to 9-0 by winning four recent matches, all by lopsided scored and  two against Division I Chittenden County teams. 

The Middlebury Union High School boys’ tennis team picked up two more wins in recent matches to improve to 5-0. 

The fourth-ranked Middlebury College men’s tennis team on Sunday defeated host No. 10 Johns Hopkins, 5-2, in an NCAA regional final to advance to the program’s eighth straight and 18th overall elite eight appearance.

The Middlebury College men’s tennis team claimed its third-straight NESCAC Championship this weekend at a tournament hosted by Tufts, coming from behind to edge second-seeded Bowdoin, 5-4.

The top-seeded host Middlebury College women’s tennis team fell to second-seed Wesleyan in Sunday’s NESCAC final, 5-2, but still earned a bid to the NCAA Division III tournament. 

Middlebury Indoor Tennis held its first-ever Community Match recently. It brought together lots of people of all ages to have fun and competition on the courts.

Mount Mansfield defeated the MUHS girls’ tennis team on April 20, 7-0, dropping the Tigers’ record to 0-2.

The boys on the Middlebury Union High School tennis team blanked Mount Mansfield, winning most of the games.

The Middlebury Union High School boys’ tennis team won its first two matches, while the Tiger girls’ tennis team lost its first outing and saw its second, on Tuesday, suspended by rain before any individual matches were completed.

Top-seeded defending champion Montpelier on Wednesday, June 8, defeated visiting third-seeded Middlebury Union High School, 5-2, to win the Division II girls’ tennis championship.

The third-seeded Middlebury Union High School boys’ tennis team won two Division I playoff matches last week before falling at undefeated No. 2 seed St. Johnsbury, 6-1, in a Tuesday semifinal.
