Porter battles inflation, major staffing problems

Porter Medical Center has embarked on a major effort to reduce its expenses in light of declining reimbursement for health care services, spiraling inflation and a workforce shortage that’s forcing the county’s hospital to fill some posts with traveling nurses whose compensation can amount to four times more than a staff RN.
