Bristol library scores grant for upgrades

Bristol’s Lawrence Memorial Library has received nearly $500,000 in federal funding that will allow the library to upgrade its space and better serve community members. 

Bristol and Salisbury are among 14 Vermont communities whose public libraries will share $15.9 million in federal funding for much-needed capital projects.

Something kind of different and kind of special is coming to Bristol’s Lawrence Memorial Library on Friday, Sept. 13, at 7 p.m. It’s a reading, no it’s a violin duet … wait, it’s both?!

From a child’s point of view, it might have been that two fairies manifested from a secret garden and made their way to the local library. 

Collaboration has been a key part of Katie Male-Riordan’s work as director of the New Haven Community Library.

Two libraries in the 5-town area are looking to fill leadership positions in the coming months. 

The grant will provide $2,500 in new children’s books for the Lawrence Memorial and the Bristol Elementary School libraries, storytelling sessions, book giveaways and other programming.

After three-and-a-half years serving as steward of Bristol’s literacy hub, Coco Moseley is taking charge of another cherished public venue — Middlebury’s Henry Sheldon Museum of Vermont History.
