Ralph Myhre golfers fare well at women’s tourney

Several Ralph Myhre Golf Course members posted solid results on Aug. 13 at a VSWGA State Day at the Proctor-Pittsford Country Club.

Playing on his home turf on Aug. 1 and 2, Ralph Myhre Golf Course member Brady Fallon finished third in the 15-18 age bracket in the Vermont Junior Tour Stroke Play Championship with a two-round score of 156.

The father-son team of Steve and Jeff Maier prevailed in the First Flight of the Ralph Myhre Golf Course’s annual Dud Phinney Member-Guest Tournament, which the course staged from July 26 to 28.

Ralph Myhre Golf Course hosted a Middlebury College Alumni Golf Weekend tournament between July 19 and 21. 

Ralph Myhre Golf Course member Lucas Politano, who recently turned 17, on July 11 won the Vermont Amateur golf championship in dramatic fashion.

In a busy recent stretch for Ralph Myhre Golf Course and its members, the highlight was member Lucas Politano’s participation in the New England Junior PGA Championship held at Shaker Hills Country Club in Harvard, Mass., on July 1 and 2.

The First Flight Gross winners in the Ralph Myhre Golf Course Member-Member Tournament, which concluded on June 29, was the team of Paul Fine-Lease and Lucas Politano.

Otter Valley Union High School junior Lucas Politano repeated as the Division II boys’ golf medalist on Tuesday by shooting a four-over-par 75 at the Basin Harbor Club golf course in Ferrisburgh on Tuesday.

At the Montague Country Club on Tuesday, the Middlebury Union High School golf team finished fourth in the Division II qualifying tournament and will compete for the state D-II title this coming Tuesday at the Basin Harbor course. 

Only one stroke separated the Tiger and Eagle golf teams in play at Basin Harbor this past Friday.

Ralph Myhre Golf Course member Susan Rand on Aug. 29 fired the first-place gross score in the second flight of a VSWGA State Day event held at Copley Country Club to highlight action last week.

The tandem of John Carver and Paul Fine-Lease prevailed in the Championship Flight of the annual Ralph Myhre Golf Course’s Dud Phinney Member-Guest Tournament, which was held from Aug. 25 to 27.
