Letter to the editor: Delisle made a difference for local folks in need

Caroline Delisle, who died on Dec. 20, was a long-time worker at The Middlebury Welfare office and at ACCAG (Addison County Community Action Group).

Last week, on March 29, Vermont senior U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., was grilling Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz on the illegal union-busting activities used by that corporation.

Vermont is lucky compared with other states under Republican governors. Gov. Phil Scott is no raving Trumpite! However, his economic thought reflects old Republican ideas.

An elderly friend just had his hip replacement put off, as Burlington, Middlebury and Rutland hospitals had no bed for him. Of the patients who had the bed, almost all COVID patients were not fully vaccinated.

Think twice before signing a Middlebury Regional Planning easement. I speak about the sidewalk through the Pulp Mill Bridge area.
