Letter to the editor: Lanpher’s loss is bad for all of us

My heart sank to see that Diane Lanpher lost the election and by so few votes. It certainly shows very conflicted, ill-informed voters during these troubling times.

In times like these, when everyone is feeling pressure and stress, it is especially important that we all come together to solve problems and support one another across the state.

Addison County lawmakers will wield significant influence in shaping the state’s legislative agenda for the next two years, as our local delegation has snagged three committee chairmanships in the House and two in the Senate.

Addison-3 Vermont House District incumbents Diane Lanpher and Matt Birong, both Vergennes Democrats, cruised to re-election on Tuesday over a pair of Republican challengers, Rob North of Ferrisburgh and James McClay of New Haven.

I was proud to vote for Diane Lanpher today to be one of my State Representatives, representing Addison, Panton, Ferrisburgh, New Haven, and Vergennes in Montpelier.
