Teen charged and released in fatal Bristol shooting

A 14-year-old Burlington youth was released into the custody of his family on Wednesday after pleading innocent to charges that he had shot and killed a 14-year-old Shelburne youth in Bristol on Monday.

After spending 44 years largely within the boundaries of Addison County, Hannah Zeno took a trip to Culver City, Calif., to test her wits on the Wheel of Fortune TV game show.

Crews in Bristol have entered the final stretch of a months-long waterline replacement project on Pine Street. The project has replaced around 2,570 feet of unlined, cast iron pipe that was installed in 1905. 

The Stoney Hill business park’s first building is expected to be completed in December and, early next year, will begin housing AllEarth Renewables, a company currently based in Williston that makes solar trackers and other green energy components. 

While the Stoney Hill business park nears completion on Bristol’s Firehouse Drive, community members are celebrating the opening of a new affordable housing development across the street. 

On Sunday, Oct. 15, 5 Town Friends of the Arts is sponsoring a celebration of World Singing Day at Holley Hall in Bristol, from 1-4:30 p.m. 

Art on Main in Bristol will host a reception and artist talk for a new exhibit showcasing work by Dominique Gustin and Matlakwauhti Mayforth, on Friday, Oct. 6, from 5-7 p.m.

For nearly 40 years, the former Bristol Railroad hauled passengers, potatoes and a variety of locally made products from Bristol to New Haven and beyond.

On Sept. 29, from 7:30-9:30, nationally known dance caller Sue Hulsether will be leading a community dance in Bristol’s Holley Hall with live fiddle and banjo music by Addison County’s own Red Dog Riley.

The former Three Day Stampede Toward the Cure for Cystic Fibrosis has undergone a bit of a makeover in recent years. 

Saturday, Sept. 23, will see 24th annual Bristol Harvest Festival, co-hosted by the Addison County Chamber and the Bristol Recreation Department.
