The No. 14 Middlebury College men’s soccer team this past weekend won a first-round NCAA Division III game, but came up short in a second-round game vs. undefeated host No. 8 Wheaton, both in one-goal contests.

The No. 2 host Bellows Falls football team hit No. 3 Mount Abraham/Vergennes with early haymakers in this past Friday’s Division III semifinal and cruised to a 44-14 victory over the Eagles.

MUHS football on Friday scored twice in the first half then stopped the Bulldogs three times deep inside Tiger territory on the way to a 27-7 home victory in a Division I semifinal.

Despite losing the league playoffs Saturday, Middlebury College field hockey earned a chance to win the program’s eighth straight NCAA title and will play Westfield State in Middlebury.
