Karl Lindholm: Coach’s course puts sports and its lessons in context

Mike Leonard and Scott Langerman are friends — friends and colleagues. Together, they offered a Winter Term course at Middlebury College this January, “Sports and Society: How Sports Transcend Their Sidelines.” 

Tigers Dance! Claim 2nd at state

The MUHS dance team at Saturday’s state championship competition in the Vergennes gymnasium once again showed it is one of Vermont’s top teams.

OV grappler Isaac Whitney wins 100th

Otter Valley Union High School junior wrestler Isaac Whitney recently won his 100th match, reaching the milestone at a Feb. 3 tournament hosted by Monument Mountain High School in Great Barrington, Mass.

Nordic skiers compete at Sleepy Hollow

The Middlebury Union High School Nordic skiing team placed two boys and two girls in the top 10 in 5-kilometer classic races held under the lights at the Sleepy Hollow Nordic Center in Huntington on Feb. 8.

Top D-I teams skate past MUHS boys

The Division II Middlebury Union High School boys’ hockey team lost a pair of games to the top two teams in D-I last week, dropping the Tigers’ record to 5-10-1 heading into a Wednesday home game vs. Colchester played after deadline for this issue.

Locals among sports hall inductees
