Local girls’ lax showdown goes to Tigers

The Commodores, Eagles and Tigers were up against dozens of teams at South Burlington’s Twilight Invitational on Saturday, May 2.

The two teams meet again on May 12 in Vergennes.

The Tigers are 1-1 so far this season.

Middlebury will host the remainder of the tournament games.

The Middlebury College men’s baseball team finished the regular season 19-12. Their opponent, Bowdoin, enters the three game quarterfinal series 15-19.

The Eagles and Tigers have yet to take a loss as the season just gets into swing.

In what was their second game of the season, the Eagles beat the Cougars 14-11.

Two athletes from Cornwall and another from Orwell were among the 10 newest inductees of the Vermont Sports Hall of Fame at its induction ceremony on April 25 in South Burlington.

All three local high school teams had athletes place in the top three during meets on Tuesday night.
