One killed, another seriously injured in Orwell crash on Sunday

Twenty-eight-year-old Michael Guess, who was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, was a passenger in the vehicle driven by Aron G. Therrien, 27.

Both men arrested were Berlin residents.

In other action last week, Middlebury police responded to the report of an unresponsive woman at a Jackson Lane address on March 3. Police said the woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.

On March 6 at a little after 2:30 p.m., troopers from the New Haven barracks got a report of a single-vehicle crash near Route 7 and Route 17, otherwise known as the New Haven Junction.

Between Feb. 22 and 28, Bristol police completed four foot patrols, conducted four traffic stops and checked security at Mount Abraham Union High School seven times, at Bristol Elementary School seven times and at local businesses five times.

Bristol police on Feb. 19 arrested Joshua Emmons, 40, of Starksboro on three warrants. According to police, Emmons had failed to appear for previously scheduled criminal court hearings — one in Addison County and two in Chittenden County.

A juvenile from Burlington was cited for driving over 30 miles per hour over the speed limit.

Middlebury police cited Brittney Brooks, 32, of Bristol for driving under the influence of drugs, following a traffic stop on Route 7 South on Feb. 27. Police said Brooks submitted to an evidentiary blood sample, the results of which are pending.

Troopers stopped two different Vermont men in Addison County this past week and cited them for driving under the influence of drugs.

The evening snowstorm last Friday night left four large vehicles struggling on Vergennes roads.

Vermont State Police say that David Ouellette, 60, of Waltham assaulted someone in his household this past Sunday evening.

— Bristol police on Feb. 11 investigated a parking lot crash on Mountain Street.

Deputies with the Addison County Sheriff’s Department on Feb. 9 logged a report from the trash transfer station that a customer had driven away before paying all that was owed.

Middlebury police arrested Dylan T. Harris, 34, of Middlebury on an outstanding warrant for driving under the influence – his fourth offense.
