Panther runners compete at NCAAs

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Middlebury College women’s cross-country team finished 15th at the NCAA Division III championship meet hosted by Spaulding University in Louisville on Saturday, while the Panther men were 29th in the 32-team field. 
Johns Hopkins captured the women’s NCAA crown with 125 points, followed by Washington University (138) and Williams (168). Parley Hannan of Ithaca won the 6-kilometer race in 20:53.
Cassie Kearney was the first Panther to finish, taking 26th in 22:01. Next up for the Panthers was Talia Ruxin in 60th place in 22:30, followed by Meg Wilson in 125th (23:01), Phoebe Colvin Oehmig in 128th (23:02), and Chloe Smith in 220th 23:49. 
Pomona-Pitzer won the men’s championship with 162 points, followed by North Central (182) and Williams (183). Taking home the individual title was Patrick Watson of Stevenson in 24:13 over 8 kilometers.
Middlebury’s top performer on the men’s side was Theo Henderson, who finished 34th in 24:55. Henry Fleming came in 93rd in 25:25, followed by Alexander Kessler in 239th (26:24) Quinn McGaugh in 243rd (26:27), and Graham Rainsby in 246th (26:29).
