Vermont State Police Log: Car overturns on a snowy Monkton road

ADDISON COUNTY — The season’s first snowfall this week was blamed for a car crash in Monkton on Monday.

Vermont State Police report that Rose Osbourne, 35, of Burlington lost control of her vehicle due to hazardous conditions on Bristol Road near Hardscrabble Road in Monkton around 6 p.m. on Nov. 10. The 2011 Chevy Malibu rolled onto its roof and came to rest in a roadside ditch, troopers report. 

Osbourne sustained no injuries but the Malibu was totaled in the crash.

No court action is forthcoming.

State police were assisted by Bristol Rescue and Monkton Fire Department.

Vermont State Police also reported a couple of impaired driving citations in the past week. 

The first was on Nov. 8, when just before 6 p.m. troopers on patrol on Route 7 in New Haven saw several motor vehicle violations and stopped the vehicle near Dog Team Road. Police saw multiple signs of impairment and cited Morgan B. Brunell, 37, of Lincoln for driving under the influence, second offense.

The second case was on Nov. 9 at about a quarter to 1 a.m. when police responded to a report that a 2004 Chevy Cavalier had crashed on Route 22A near Sunset Knoll Road in Panton. Troopers said driver Miguel Reyeshernandez, 33, of Shoreham should signs that he was impaired and they cited him for DUI and for negligent driving. Reyeshernandez was not injured.

Meanwhile, on Nov. 2 around 3:30 p.m. troopers received a report of a domestic assault in Orwell. Through investigation they say they determined that Raymond W. Hanson, 36, of Orwell caused physical pain to a household member. After police found Hanson at the home of another family member, they arrested him and cited him for domestic assault and committing an offense in the presence of a child.

Finally, on Nov. 9 at 10:50 p.m. troopers were at an address on Hollow Road in Monkton and cited 29-year-old Kevin J. Tower of Monkton for providing false and misleading information relating to an investigation to police.
