Bristol resident in hospital after apparent accidental shooting

BRISTOL — A Bristol resident has been hospitalized after what police believe was an accidental shooting in town early Wednesday morning.

Bristol Chief of Police Bruce Nason told the Independent that police received a 911 call at 12:56 a.m. on Nov. 27 for a report of a person who had shot themself. The incident occurred at an apartment building on Adirondack View.

Nason said the individual has been transported to the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington for treatment.

“Our preliminary investigation reveals that it appears at this time it was an accidental shooting, so there’s no concern for public safety, and we continue to follow up with that investigation,” Nason said.

The chief was not ready to release the name of the person who was shot.
