Vermont State Police Log: Police arrest breaking-and-entering suspect
ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police on Monday afternoon arrested a man who they said broke into a Waltham home illegally.
On Oct. 7 at around 10 minutes to 5 p.m. troopers from the New Haven barracks responded to a Waltham home for a report that a man had broken into an occupied dwelling and removed property. Officers located Jacob Burmania, 30, of Waltham in the vicinity of the residence.
Police investigated and determined that Burmania had entered the home without having any right to do so with the intent to steal tools. Police took Burmania to the New Haven barracks, cited him for burglary and jailed him at the Marble Valley Regional Correctional facility on $1,000 bail.
In other recent activity, troopers:
• On Oct. 1 at around 3:30 p.m. got a tip from the South Burlington Police Department that a stolen vehicle was being tracked by GPS to a residence on Tyler Bridge Road in Monkton. Troopers located the vehicle at the residence in the possession of Jodi Palmer, 47, of Monkton
Police returned the car to the owners in Westford and cited Palmer for receiving stolen property.
• Wrapped up an investigation into a possible home improvement fraud in Bristol that began after getting the initial citizen complaint on Sept. 1. Police related that Michael Kenyon, 46, of Vergennes was hired through Valley Pool and Spa Service LLC to provide pool servicing. Kenyon received a deposit for the project, however never completed the work, police report. Over several months the victim tried to contact Kenyon to have the project completed or the deposit returned, but to no avail. Police alleged that ultimately Kenyon failed to follow a contract between him and the victim, failing to complete the project in which he received funds for or return the funds.
Last week troopers issued Kenyon a citation for home improvement fraud, which he is due to answer in Addison County Superior Court, Criminal Division, on Dec. 30.
• On Oct. 6 just before 10:30 a.m. responded to a report of a theft and trespassing incident in New Haven. Upon arrival, troopers met with the property owner to obtain further information as the other party, later identified as Allen Karnatz, 66, of New Haven, was no longer on the property.
Police found Karnatz cited him for unlawful trespass.
• On Oct. 6 were conducting speed enforcement on Route 7 near South Middlebrook Road in New Haven when, at a little before 7:30 p.m., they saw a blue sedan northbound Route 7 fly by in excess of the speed limit. Troopers confirmed via radar the sedan was traveling 100 mph in a 50-mph zone. The officer stopped the car without incident and identified the driver as Alexavier Waas, 19, of Vergennes. They cited Waas for excessive speed and gave him a speeding ticket that carries a penalty of 2 points and a $737 fine.
