Fall sports playoffs start this week

ADDISON COUNTY & BRANDON — Most local high school athletic teams enter the fall sports playoffs this week.

Local high school cross country teams will compete at the state meet in Thetford this coming Saturday. High school golf and bass fishing teams have already competed in their respective state championships.

Here is the lineup for the start of the playoffs in soccer, field hockey and football.

Girls’ soccer

Division II

• Mount Abraham Eagles (5th seed) will host the Solons of Montpelier (12th seed) on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at 3 p.m. in Bristol.

• Middlebury Tigers (10th seed) will face Rice Memorial (7th seed) in South Burlington on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at 3 p.m.

• Otter Valley Otters (11th seed) will travel to Barre to play Spaulding (6th seed) on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at 3 p.m.

Division III

• Vergennes Commodores (8th seed) will host No. 9 Green Mountain on Wednesday, Oct. 25, at 3 p.m.

Field Hockey

Division II

• Mount Abe. Eagles (8th seed) will host Brattleboro (No. 9) on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at 3:30 p.m.

• Middlebury Tigers (10th seed) will travel to Saint Johnsbury (No. 7) on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at 3:30 p.m.

• Otter Valley (6th seed) will play Spaulding (3rd seed) in Barre on Friday, Oct. 27 at 3:30 p.m.

Boys’ soccer

Division II

• Middlebury Tigers (2nd seed) will host Spaulding (15th seed) on Wednesday, Oct. 25, at 3 p.m.

• Mount Abe Eagles (8th seed) will host Rice (9th seed) on Wednesday, Oct. 25, at 3 p.m.

• Otter Valley Otters (13th seed) will travel to Montpelier to play No. 4 U-32 on Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 7:15 p.m.

Division III

• Vergennes Commodores (11th seed) will play Fair Haven (6th seed) in Fair Haven on Wednesday, Oct. 25, at 6 p.m.

Football

Division I

• Middlebury Tigers (4th seed) plays the Hilltoppers (No. 4) in St. Johnsbury on Friday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m.

Division III

• OV Otters (3rd seed) hosts No. 6 Springfield in Brandon on Saturday, Oct. 28, at 1 p.m.
