MUHS boys’ hockey nips Redhawks

SOUTH BURLINGTON — The Middlebury Union High School boys’ hockey team picked up a Division I road win on Saturday, defeating Champlain Valley in overtime, 2-1.
The 3-3 Tigers face another big game on Tuesday, when they will host undefeated BFA-St. Albans at 7 p.m.
On Saturday Devon Kearns netted a shorthanded goal 4:29 into overtime to give the Tigers the victory. Tucker Stearns picked up the assist on the game-winner.
The Tigers took the lead on a Kam Bartlett goal early in the second period, assisted by Kearns and Joey Niemo. The 2-5 Redhawks equalized on Aiden Achilles’ power-play strike early in the third period.
Tiger goalie Eddie Hodde made 13 saves, and CVU goalie Jason Douglas denied 26 Tiger shots.
