Police accuse Shoreham man of armed robbery of Marble Works Pharmacy

SHOREHAM — In the early morning hours of Thursday, Aug. 22, officers from four law enforcement agencies went to the home of a Shoreham man and arrested him for his involvement in a 2013 armed robbery of a pharmacy in Middlebury.
The U.S. Marshals Service, Middlebury police, Vermont State Police and the Addison County Sheriff’s Department arrested Christopher Hornbeck, 25, without incident.
On July 24, 2013, at around 5:50 p.m. a man approached the counter at the pharmacy, displayed a handgun at his waist and demanded prescription drugs from pharmacy employees, according to police. He left the store with an undisclosed amount of drugs and was last seen running south on the railroad tracks that run adjacent to the Marble Works shopping complex, police said.
At the time, he was described as around 5 feet, 11 inches tall, probably in his 20s, and wearing a green hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled over his head. He was also sporting a baseball-style cap and dark glasses, sneakers and khaki-colored pants. He was clean-shaven and was carrying a backpack, according to police.
Police officers searched along the railroad tracks and into Middlebury neighborhoods after the incident but did not find the assailant.
Later, police said they identified the assailant as Hornbeck.
On July 18, Superior Judge Alison Arms signed a $1 million bail arrest warrant for Hornbeck. Then, on Aug. 15 Middlebury police sought help from the U.S. Marshals to find and apprehend Hornbeck. Police said Hornbeck has a criminal history that includes narcotics and vehicle infractions.
Hornbeck was arraigned in Addison Superior Court, criminal division, on Thursday afternoon on charges of felony assault and robbery with a weapon, two counts of aggravated assault with a weapon and petit larceny.
