SOUTH STARKSBORO — Jared G. Hall was born May 30, 1942, and died March 25, 2015. Please join Jed’s family and friends to celebrate his life on Saturday, May 30, 2015, at 2 p.m. on the Hall family property in South Starksboro. ◊

ISABELLE CLARK

BRANDON — The memorial service for Isabelle “Issy” Rosamay Clark, 72, formerly of Brandon, who died March 11, 2015, will be held on Sunday, May 17, 2015, at 2 p.m., at the Hubbardton Congregational Church.

The Rev. Edward Hults, pastor, will officiate.

The graveside committal service and burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery.

ABBOTT FENN

 

MIDDLEBURY — A memorial service for Abbott T. Fenn, who died April 3, 2015, will be held on Saturday, June 13, at 4 p.m. at the Champlain Valley Unitarian Universalist Society, 2 Duane Court, in Middlebury. 

NEAL GORTON

HUBBARDTON — Neal Gorton, 79, died at his home in Hubbardton on Tuesday, April 21, 2015.

As a young man, he spent many years farming on several different farms in Vermont. He lived in New Haven for many years.

He had resided with his home provider and friend Betty Blyther for five years. Those who knew him said he enjoyed his life on the farm there, bird watching, going for “rides,” fishing and attending family gatherings. He loved the outdoors.

ELIZABETH HUNT

 MIDDLEBURY — A celebration of life service for Elizabeth Hunt, who died in October, will be held on Saturday, May 30, at 1 p.m. at the Congregational Church of Middlebury. ◊

MARY EUBER

ORWELL — A graveside service for Mary Elizabeth Euber, who died March 6, 2015, will be held Thursday, May 14, 2015, at 1 p.m. at Mountain View Cemetery in Orwell.

MARJORIE FREEMAN

MIDDLEBURY — Marjorie Carter Freeman, 94, died at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center on May 6, 2015. No funeral service is planned.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, May 13, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Memorial Baptist Church in Middlebury.

A full obituary will appear at a later date.

GLADYS GOODSPEED

BRISTOL — A graveside service for Gladys Goodspeed, who died March 17, 2015, will be held Friday, May 15, 2015, at 2 p.m. in Greenwood Cemetery, Bristol.

MELVIN RAYMOND

BRISTOL — Melvin Leonard Raymond, 81, passed away on May 5, 2015, at Helen Porter Nursing Home.

He was born on March 6, 1934, to Russell and Bernice Raymond, who predeceased him. He was also predeceased by his brother Robert and his sister Evelyn.

He married Barbara Mae Freegard on Feb. 14, 1974, and they were married for 32 years until her passing on July 11, 2006.

Melvin is survived by three sons, Ricky and wife Lynn, Russell and Richard; a daughter Robin; brothers and sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews.

JANE ATWOOD

WEST SWANZEY — Jane (Osborne) Atwood, 85, a resident of West Swanzey, N.H., and formerly of Bristol, Vermont, died on Saturday, April 25, 2015, at Maplewood Nursing Home in Westmoreland, N.H. She passed peacefully after a period of declining health with her daughters at her side.

Jane was born the daughter of the late Dorothy (Hart) and Earl Osborne on April 11, 1930, in Ellsworth, Maine. She grew up in Berlin, N.H., and graduated high school. She was educated in Maine and went on to receive a diploma from Becker Junior College in Secretarial Skills.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid and free obituaries. Paid obituaries run just as submitted with a charge of $9.00 per column inch, and the editor shapes free obituaries to conform to our editorial style. We run photos of the person if they are submitted in a relatively high-quality format.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN - Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
