SARA GALLIPO

PITTSFORD — Sara J. (Provin) Gallipo, 50, died Wednesday, Dec. 03, 2014 at Rutland Regional Medical Center with family at her side.

She was born on Dec. 06, 1963, in Proctor, the daughter of Lloyd and Alice (Wright) Provin.

Sara was a graduate of Otter Valley Union High School, class of 1981, and UVM, class of 1985.

She taught math in Vergennes and Proctor before becoming a home daycare provider and self-employed seamstress.

JANICE SHORT

MIDDLEBURY — Janice Larrabee Short, 87, died Monday evening, Dec. 1, 2014, at her residence in Middlebury.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, Dec. 5, 2014, from 4-7 p.m. at the Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home, located at 117 South Main St., Middlebury.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, at 10 a.m. at the Weybridge Congregational Church, with the Rev. Daniel Cooperrider officiating.

Burial will follow in Lake View Cemetery in Shoreham.

A complete obituary will follow in a later edition of the paper.

BARBARA BUTTOLPH

MIDDLEBURY — Barbara Coast Buttolph, 92, of The Residence at Otter Creek in Middlebury, passed away peacefully at home with her family at her side on Dec. 2, 2014.

PAMELA CARTER

MIDDLEBURY — On Saturday, Nov. 22, Pamela J. Carter of Middlebury ended her 2-1/2-year battle with ovarian cancer.

Pam was born May 20, 1959, in New York City, the daughter of Sheila Donahue Carter and David L. Carter. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Jeremy.

Pam is survived by her husband, Andrew Davis; also, her uncle Martin Carter; her aunt Harriette; cousins Josh and Laura; her many friends; and her little dog, Ollie.

BRISTOL — Claire Marguerite Allen Duclos passed peacefully from this earthly life to her Everlasting Home on Nov. 28, 2014, in Bristol at the home of her kindly caregivers, Linda and Kirk Roscoe, after a two-year battle with breast cancer.

SHELBURNE — Terrance Robert McKnight, husband of Jane Osborne McKnight, passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack on Nov. 29, 2014.

ROGER SHEA

MONKTON — Roger Kenneth Shea, 68, of Monkton, died in Colorado Springs on Nov. 28, 2014.

He was born in Monkton on March 27, 1946, to Dorothy and George Shea. He attended Hinesburg High School.

He served in the U.S. Army for over 22 years, retiring at the rank of first sergeant. He was a combat veteran who served two tours in Vietnam. His family says he was an avid hunter, fisherman and all around sportsman who was happiest during yearly elk and deer hunting trips with his brothers and closest friends.

LUCAS LAFOUNTAIN BOYD

BISCAYNE BAY, Fla. — Lucas Chase LaFountain Boyd, 25, beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend, died in a car accident on Oct. 24, 2014.

He was born in Middlebury Vt., where he attended Mary Hogan Elementary, and later lived in Mexico and Florida. After majoring in environmental studies at college, he worked for the Florida Park Service, while living aboard a sailboat in Biscayne Bay.

RODERICK BURRITT

MONKTON — Roderick “Rod” Burritt died Saturday, Nov. 29, at the age of 88 at his home in Monkton. He was born in Hinesburg on Feb. 28, 1926, to his birth parents, Roderick “Roy” Burritt and Ila Little Burritt. His foster parents were Wesley and Eva (Baldwin) Little. He graduated from Bristol High School in June of 1944.

FRANCIS NORMAN BLAKE

SALISBURY — Francis N. Blake, 78, of Salisbury died early Wednesday morning, Nov. 26, 2014, at the University Of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington.

Born Oct. 27, 1936, in Canaan, N.H., he was raised by his adoptive parents.

He was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, NASCAR auto racing, tractor pulls, demolition derbies and he never missed watching his sons Brian and Norman and grandson Lil’ Brian in the heats. He also enjoyed attending Project Independence.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid and free obituaries. Paid obituaries run just as submitted with a charge of $9.00 per column inch, and the editor shapes free obituaries to conform to our editorial style. We run photos of the person if they are submitted in a relatively high-quality format.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN - Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
