We know that communities with a well-supported newspaper share a greater sense of respect for each other and responsibility to one another. We know community newspapers can foster a sense of caring, and genuine curiosity, that makes communities stronger.
Now, we’re asking for your support to ensure that this vital work continues through the ADDY ALL-STARS program.

Your Support
We work hard to keep subscription rates as low and attainable as possible, but this price covers little more than the costs of printing and distributing the newspaper.
We need additonal support to fund:
- The editorial team that reports, writes, and edits the stories you care about.
- The graphic design team that designs pages and layouts.
- The advertising team that supports local businesses.
- The front office staff that keeps everything running smoothly.
Traditionally, advertising revenue has carried most of the financial burden, but that alone is no longer enough. That’s why we’re creating a more stable three-legged stool of advertising, subscriptions, and donations.
If even half of our subscribers contributed $100 annually, we could significantly bolster the quality and scope of our journalism.

How does the Addison Independent use its funds?
Funds are allocated toward staff salaries, reporting, design, editing, printing, and distributing the newspaper, as well as maintaining digital newsletters and online presence.
One of our many goals here at the Addison Independent is to keep our subscription cost affordable, so that everyone has access to local news and community conversations. ADDY ALL-STARS donations make discounted subscriptions possible, and we recently received a total of 55+ new subscribers during our SCOOP50 campaign. We hope we can continue to scoop up some more subscribers and ADDY ALL-STARS, too!

Should I donate to the ADDY ALL-STARS program or the Addison Independent Trust nonprofit?
As ADDY ALL-STARS, your contributions come directly to the Addy Indy. The paper uses these funds for its general operations. They also enable us to offer discounted subscriptions to anyone who can’t afford the annual cost of a subscription.
The main difference between giving to the ADDY ALL-STARS or the Addison Independent Trust is that a donation made to the Addison Independent Trust is tax-deductible and funds are used specifically to create and grow reliable, quality local news in Addison County. As a qualified 501(c)(3), charitable gifts to the Addison Independent Trust could be a tax-efficient way for you to support the Addy Indy, and we encourage you to consider making a 3- to 5-year pledge.
