MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police cited Alexis Betourney, 25, of Leicester for simple assault following an alleged altercation at Two Brothers Tavern on Main Street on July 16.

In other action last week, Middlebury police:

• Assisted Vermont State Police with a drug overdose patient in Salisbury on July 11.

• Responded to a report of a “suspicious man making packages” behind a Main Street home on July 11. Police said the man had been making flash cards for a class.

• Took, to Porter Hospital, a man who had been experiencing mental health issues in the Maple Street area on July 11.

• Helped Porter Hospital officials with a suicidal, drunken woman who had left the emergency room on July 11.

• Checked on a couple sitting in a parked car at a closed business on Boardman Street on July 12.  Police determined the two were playing the “Pokemon Go” app.

• Tried to locate a vehicle that had reportedly been traveling erratically on Court Street on July 12.

• Investigated an alleged assault in a parking lot of Washington Street on July 12.

• Responded to a burglary at a Case Street home on July 12. Police said the burglar entered the unoccupied residence through an unlocked window.  The list of stolen items is incomplete, but includes multiple electronic devices such as a DVD player, cell phone and tablet computer.

• Intercepted a Chittenden County Transit Authority bus in Vergennes on July 13 after it had left Middlebury displaying a sign that requested that police/911 be called immediately. The sign is digital and acts as a silent alarm.  Upon stopping the bus, police determined everyone was OK and that the sign had been activated by mistake.

• Served a temporary restraining order on July 13 to a man who was not wanted at a Washington Street Extension property.

• Responded to a two-vehicle accident, with minor injuries, at the intersection of Main and Seymour Streets on July 13.

• Investigated a possible case of child abuse at a Valley View home on July 13.

• Checked on man seen sitting and burning items on the ground off Main Street on July 13. Police said the man had been burning cigarette butts.

• Located a dementia patient who had walked away from the Residences at Otter Creek on Lodge Road on July 14.

• Investigated an alleged assault in the Merchants Row area on July 14.

• Caught a loose dog on Quarry Road and took it to the Addison County Humane Society on Boardman Street on July 14.

• Responded to a report of an out-of-control youth in Catamount Park on July 14.

• Investigated the untimely death of a 75-year-old woman at an East Main Street residence on July 14. Police said the woman, Virginia Plant, died of natural causes.

• Helped Vermont State Police in the arrest of a woman on Route 7 South on July 14. Police said the woman had been involved in an incident in Rutland County.

• Checked on four youths who were playing the “Pokemon Go” mobile phone app near a closed business on Maple Street on July 14.

• Responded to a verbal dispute between a boyfriend and girlfriend on Case Street on July 15.

• Were informed of the theft of an acoustics monitor from beneath the bridge on East Main Street on July 15.

• Investigated two reports of a man allegedly holding handcuffs and pointing a gun at passing cars near the intersection of Seminary and North Pleasant streets on July 15. Police said it turned out to be a father and son playing “cops and robbers.”

• Destroyed a syringe found off Halladay Road on July 15.

• Interviewed some mental health counselors who reported feeling threatened by a youth with a BB gun during a visit to a South Pleasant Street residence on July 15.

• Investigated reports of a Feed Mill Lane business receiving threats from a recently fired worker on July 15.

• Received a report that a flower bed in the Jackson Lane area had been vandalized on July 15.

• Investigated a report of a woman allegedly making threatening calls to the Middlebury office of the Vermont Department for Children and Families on July 15 after DCF took her child into custody.

• Quieted a loud party at a South Main Street residence on July 16.

• Warned some people for using fireworks in the Valley View Drive area on July 16.

• Investigated a trespassing complaint on Court Street on July 16.

• Responded to a family fight at a Washington Street Extension home on July 17. Police separated the family members for the night.

• Helped a woman who was reportedly having suicidal thoughts in the Route 7 North area on July 17.

• Responded to a report of a couple panhandling at McDonald’s Restaurant on Court Street Extension on July 17.

• Assisted a man who reported having “problems” with his ex-girlfriend in the Ledgewood Court area on July 18.
