ADDISON COUNTY — On Friday, Feb. 28, at approximately 12:32 p.m. Vermont State Police responded to the report of a family fight in Starksboro. Because a trooper was in the immediate area on patrol, he arrived at the site of the reported fight in five minutes.

After investigating the incident police alleged that the victim had been assaulted by Donavan A. Reather, 25, of Starksboro. Troopers further alleged that Reather also took the victim’s cell phone and threw it into the woods and snow preventing the victim from accessing emergency services.

Police took Reather into custody, and he was arraigned at Addison Superior Court, criminal division, that day and lodged at Marble Valley Correctional Center on $1,000 bail.

In other recent activity, Vermont State Police:

•  On Feb 15 at 12:26 p.m. were called to investigate a burglary at a Monkton Road residence in Bristol.

•  On Feb. 18 at 2:41 p.m. responded to a crash on Route 7 in Pittsford in which a Brandon man was injured. Police said the car that Wayne Holt, 74, of Brandon was driving northbound crossed the center line and crashed head on with a Mack tractor-trailer hauling rock and driven by 75-year-old Samuel Young of Rutland. Both vehicles were totaled and both drivers were transported to the Rutland Regional Medical Center for what were described as minor injuries.

•  Also outside the county, a Salisbury man was involved in a one-vehicle crash on Route 7 near Nature’s Way in Charlotte on Feb. 22 shortly after midnight. A call to 911 reported that a car in the area had rolled several times before coming to rest on its side off the roadway. Troopers reported that 36-year-old Eric Blair of Salisbury was still stuck inside the truck with his two-year-old child, but neither was injured. With the assistance of Charlotte fire and rescue personnel, Blair and his daughter were extracted from the vehicle and checked again for any possible injuries on the scene and both were found to be uninjured. Blair told police that his vehicle did roll, possibly two times, after he lost control of it when he applied his brakes on black ice. He said he was only going approximately 38 miles per hour when this crash occurred.

•  On Feb. 21 responded to a one-car crash on Route 17 in Waltham, where the roads were icy. There were no injuries reported and the 2002 Honda Accord sustained moderate front-end damage.

•  On Feb. 22 received a report that cash and a silver/diamond bracelet were stolen from a Route 116 home in Starksboro between Feb. 19-22. Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the state police at 388-4919.

•  On Feb. 23 cited Timothy Williams, 25, of New Haven for simple assault, unlawful mischief and violation of probation after being called to a report of an assault in New Haven. Williams was lodged at Marble Valley Correctional Facility.

•  On Feb. 25 at 4 a.m. responded to a one-car crash on Upper Meehan Road in Bristol where a Vergennes man lost control of the 1999 Nissan Altima he was driving on an icy road and struck a tree. Police said there was no evidence of impairment; and they mailed the driver a written warning for driving at an unsafe speed.

•  On Feb. 26 stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction on Route 22A in Addison, and found a passenger, Myron M. Bernard, 29, had an active arrest warrant out for felony escape. Police lodged Bernard at the Chittenden County Correctional Center for lack of $10,000 bail.

•  On Feb. 26 reported that troopers had arrested a third person in connection with a Jan. 31 burglary at a Dean Road residence in Ferrisburgh. Police said they had cited Natalie Dutra, 23, of Colchester for accessory to burglary. They earlier cited Robin Michael Bordeaux, 23, of Colchester and April Farrington, 23, of St. George, for burglary.

•  On Feb. 26 at a minute before midnight cited Mark Paradis, 49, of Vergennes for driving under the influence, second offense, on South Street in Middlebury.

•  On Feb. 28 at approximately 6:45 p.m. received a report of a vehicle swerving off the road and crossing center and fog lines on Route 22A. Troopers and Vergennes police intercepted the vehicle north of Route 17 in Addison. Police cited Matthew Verity, 22, of Glenwood, N.J., for driving under the influence and negligent driving. Police reported that his blood alcohol content was three times the legal limit for driving.

•  On March 2 at 10:30 a.m. responded to a two-car crash on Route 17 at the intersection with Jersey Street in Addison, where a 2004 Jaguar had slid on the snow-covered road into a 2011 Subaru. Both drivers were wearing seat belts and sustained minor injuries that were treated at the scene. Both vehicles sustained substantial damage.

•  On March 3 at 11 p.m. stopped a car driven by Joshua Wells, 25, of Bridport on Main Street in Vergennes and cited Wells for driving with a criminally suspended license and violation of conditions of release.
