Now he wants to offers his ideas on those and a variety of other subjects as a member of the Vermont House representing the Addison-4 district.

Wolves Cast.jpg

Soccer skills aren’t usually a requirement for actors. In fact, most of us have probably observed the natural separation of “jocks” and “theater rats” — a bit like oil and water. But the Middlebury College Department of Theater and Dance is intentionally mixing it up by bringing actors into the field house and soccer balls onto the stage with their spring production, “The Wolves” by Sarah DeLappe.

Assistant professor Michole Biancosino is directing the cast of nine female students for this performance.

Vermont Senate eyes funding path to clean water

Posted on March 22, 2018 |
By John Flowers

Bray, Chris ONLINE 2010.jpg

SHOREHAM — The Vermont Senate this week was set to take action on a bill that would lead to a funding scheme for the state’s share of an estimated $2.3 billion cleanup of the state’s waterways — including Lake Champlain.

Bill S.260 would create an eight-person study committee that would be asked, among other things, to consider a per-parcel fee to collect the more than $26 million in annual revenues over the next 20-plus years that is Vermont’s share of the federally mandated cleanup.

House5261.jpg

MIDDLEBURY — A year ago, Andrew Gardner and Caroline Damon were living a life that many would call the Vermont dream. They had a quiet old house deep in the woods of Ripton, surrounded by dirt roads and hillsides with dark nights filled only with sounds of the barred owls calling out into the void.

Many people long for solitude like this, far away from the lights and bustle of city living and believe that’s what it means to “make it” in Vermont.

BRANDON — A proposed 25-acre solar project just a mile outside downtown Brandon has raised concerns of residents and town officials alike.

The project is planned for two, 12.5-acre parcels at the intersection of Country Club Road and Park Street Extension. The land in question, owned by Bob Brooks, is agricultural and has been used to grow corn for decades.

Conti Solar, an Edison, N.J.-based solar company, is proposing the 2.2-megawatt project, which will produce enough electricity to power 500 homes.
