MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police cited Jessica McGrath, 29, of Middlebury for domestic assault, after investigating a report of a woman striking another woman with a wine bottle at a Seminary Street Extension residence on June 4. Police said they took McGrath to Rutland for treatment for intoxication.

In other action last week, Middlebury police:

•  Assisted Middlebury Regional EMS with a drug overdose patient on June 2.

•  Cited Michelle F. Cousino, 25, of New Haven for driving with a suspended license on Court Street and violating the conditions of her release on June 2.

•  Received an anonymous letter on June 2 about possible prostitution in the Middlebury area. Police are investigating the report.

•  Were informed on June 2 of three recent thefts from Middlebury College campus. Stolen items included a wallet and a jacket.

•  Investigated a littering complaint on Lower Foote Street on June 2.

•  Investigated an embezzlement complaint at an unnamed Monroe Street location on June 2.

•  Were informed on June 2 of a recent theft from the Middlebury College golf course pro shop.

•  Received a report of electrical wires down in the Court Street area on June 2.

•  Served a temporary restraining order on a man in the Case Street area on June 3.

•  Investigated a report of a motorist leaving the scene of an accident on Porter Drive on June 3.

•  Responded to an accident, with injuries, at South Street on June 3.

•  Cited Christopher Sayers, 45, of Middlebury for unlawful trespass at the Maplefields property off North Pleasant Street on June 3.

•  Investigated a report of gunshots off Valley View Road on June 4. Police said they found no evidence of shots fired.

•  Received a visit on June 4 from an elderly woman who walked into the lobby of the police department and reported she did not know where she lived or how she had gotten to Middlebury. Police said they eventually determined the woman had walked away from Project Independence, which sent staff to the police department to collect her.

•  Removed a syringe that had been found in front of a Court Street business on June 4.

•  Assisted a Middlebury Union High School student who had received unwanted text messages and Facebook messages on June 4.

•  Responded to a report of an assault at the Counseling Service of Addison County’s Hill House facility on Route 7 North on June 4. Police said a Hill House client had allegedly assaulted a staff member. Police said they took the suspect into protective custody and reported the man was later involuntarily committed for evaluation.

•  Cited Melanie Sargent, 44, of Middlebury for retail theft following an alleged incident at Hannaford Supermarket on June 5.

•  Investigated a report of someone breaking a window out of a North Forty Lane business on June 6.

•  Assisted a local man who had been receiving unwanted text messages and phone calls from his ex-girlfriend on June 6.

•  Responded to an illegal backyard fire at a Washington Street Extension residence on June 7.

•  Served a no-trespass order on a man on June 7 who was not wanted at the Maplefields store on North Pleasant Street.

•  Responded to a vehicle-deer collision on Route 125 West on June 7. Police said the deer was injured.

•  Received a report about a “suspicious” woman who was in Carol’s Hungry Mind Café on June 7, soliciting money for a cancer benefit. Police said the woman allegedly provided no paperwork to support her fund drive.

•  Were informed that someone had knocked over two big flower pots in front of Sama’s on College Street on June 7.

•  Assisted Two Brothers Tavern staff in removing an unwanted customer from the Main Street business on June 7. Police said the man in question returned a short while later and engaged in a “scuffle” with staff, then left. Police said the Addison County State’s Attorney’s Office has elected not to pursue charges in the case.

•  Received a report about a homeless man sleeping in the entryway of a Maple Street business on June 7.

•  Removed a drunken man from Two Brothers Tavern on June 7.

•  Responded to a report of someone driving an ATV on Lindale Circle on June 8.

•  Responded to a report of an unattended child in The Centre shopping plaza parking lot on June 8.

•  Received a report of some people fighting within a vehicle traveling east on Route 125 East on June 8. Police could not locate the vehicle.

•  Cited Rachel Guarino, 36, of Bethel for driving under the influence following a stop on South Main Street on June 8. Police said they took her into protective custody and took her to Rutland for detox.

•  Got some help for a local mental health patient on June 9.

•  Investigated a report of a “suspicious vehicle” parked in the Helen Porter Healthcare & Rehabilitation lot on June 9. Police said a man was sleeping in a van.
