Vergennes police on April 27 ended up buying a bus ticket to New York State for a Valley Vista client who left the 1 Alden Place rehab facility and came to the station seeking aid.

Vergennes police on April 4 responded to a report of a dog bite on Panton Road that required medical attention. 

Vergennes police on March 31 cited a 17-year-old for allegedly assaulting his mother in a Main Street apartment that day. 

Vergennes police helped calm an out-of-control 10-year-old boy at a city home on March 22, after which the Vergennes Area Rescue Squad took him to Porter Hospital to meet with the Counseling Service of Addison County.

Vergennes police on March 16 cited a Middlebury man for driving under the influence of alcohol and violating conditions of release after allegedly finding him unresponsive behind the wheel of a Ford SUV along Main Street.

Private security cameras recently caught two citizens misbehaving in Vergennes, and in one case Vergennes police were able to take action based on the footage. 

Vergennes police on March 3 helped Vermont State Police do a preliminary evaluation of a driver suspected of being under the influence of drugs when his vehicle went off the road in Charlotte and struck a utility pole. 

Vergennes police reported that an elderly Vergennes resident told them on Feb. 20 she was scammed out of $7,000 by a caller who claimed she had to act quickly because her bank account had been compromised.

Vergennes police were active enforcing traffic laws in the city between Feb. 8 and 14, with much of the enforcement related to grant work done in concert with the Governor’s Highway Safety Program.

Vergennes police were called on Feb. 1 to handle a case of a juvenile allegedly stealing three non-alcoholic beverages from the Main Street Champlain Farms convenience store. 

Between Jan. 23 and 29 Vergennes police conducted 19 traffic stops. City police have said they ticket drivers in about half of such stops, and they issue warnings in the other half ending. 

A West Street resident reported to Vergennes police on Jan. 19 that between $75 and $120 worth of redeemable bottles had been stolen from a shed on his property during the night before. 

In a mostly quiet six days between Jan. 10 and 15, Vergennes police issued three no-trespass orders; helped the Vergennes Area Rescue Squad (VARS) twice, once on behalf of Vermont State Police; and dealt with a couple of citizen complaints.
