Vergennes Lions ending busy half year

The Vergennes Lions have had a very busy first half year. It started with the chicken barbeque on the park with Vergennes Day. Next, the Annual Lions Charity Auction was successfully held online with many folks getting some incredible buys and the club netting close to $8,000.

2023 was a very successful year for the Vergennes Lions Club. It started out, under the leadership of President Debbie Brace, with a scholarship fund drive and a car raffle with both exceeding their goals.

At the beginning of December, there were very few toys coming into the Red Barrels around the community for the Lions annual Toys for Kids giveaway.

The Vergennes Lions Club’s 2022 “Cash for Christmas 50/50 Raffle” was drawn on Dec. 7, and the winner of over $2,600 is Dan Bachand of Vergennes.

Vergennes Lions toy collection drive has pickups scheduled for the end of the week, but it needs more toys for kids.

The Vergennes Lions Club is having a busy fall after the organization welcomed new faces to the fold in 2022.

The Vergennes Lions Club will be holding its annual charity auction at St. Peter’s Parish Hall in Vergennes on Wednesday, Aug. 3, with item preview starting at 5 p.m. and the auction commencing at 6 p.m.

Last weekend, the Vergennes Lions and Rotary members worked together, with considerable help from Boy Scout Troop 539, to collect food for the Vergennes Food Shelf to help meet the need for Thanksgiving meals.

Recently, Lions Club president Yvonne Raphael and Lion Larry Simino visited all schools in Vergennes and Ferrisburgh to distribute “A Student’s Dictionary” to 62 3rd-grade students.
