Peasant Market lawn sale hits Middlebury green on Saturday

Every year St. Stephen’s church raises thousands of dollars for area non-profits and social service organizations with its Peasant Market. The big yard sale is Saturday morning.

The Middlebury selectboard on Tuesday agreed to grant an easement through the town green to allow Vermont Gas Systems to install a natural gas service line that will serve St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church.

St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church officials recently made what they thought was a pro-forma request to the selectboard for an easement across the town green for a natural gas service line to feed their 200-year-old place of worship off Main Street.

The members of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church are working hard preparing for Peasant Market, their annual community fundraiser, which is coming up Saturday, July 8. “Donations have been flowing in.” said Linda Horn, Chair of Peasant Market 2023.

Next Friday, April 14, St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church will present the Choir of Clare College, Cambridge U.K., in a performance of 20th and 21st century choral works at the Middlebury church.
