Eagle girls’ hoop wins fourth straight game

As the truism goes, strong defense and rebounding typically wins basketball games. 

Addison County residents struggling with financial and/or health issues will soon have a new source for free, fresh produce.

Indoor track and field teams from Vergennes and Mount Abraham union high schools once again posted solid results at a meet hosted by the University of Vermont on Saturday. 

Mount Abraham Unified School District officials are considering how to tackle an estimated $9.65 million of facilities projects at Mount Abraham Union High School, potentially by asking voters to approve a bond of up to that amount. 

The Mount Abraham Union High School girls’ basketball team on Tuesday picked up its first win with a dominant performance in a 56-22 victory over visiting Otter Valley. 

Mount Abraham Union High School sports teams enter the winter with a few changes: Two programs have new coaches, one after winning a state championship, and there is a new varsity team, indoor track, which moves up from club status. 

Nearly 70 youth rowers from Chittenden and Addison County middle and high schools competed in the Icebreaker Northeast Regional Youth Open-Water Rowing Championship in Fort Point Channel in Boston, Mass., on Saturday, Nov. 19.

These experiences have given my daughter more than just a taste for performing. She has found a strong group of friends who spend lots of time singing together in her room after school.

After 31 years of running the girls’ basketball program at Mount Abraham, Connie LaRose was fired.

I am really sorry to be writing this. This is not something that I typically do, but I am disappointed, and I will continue to be until I get this off my chest.

This fall, all 7th- and 8th-grade students at Mount Abraham Middle School participated in a community art project resulting in three vibrant team murals now on display at the school.

The Mount Abraham Union High School cross-country teams each finished second in a meet hosted by Richford on Saturday. 

Four Mount Abraham Union High School students has been recognized by the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program for their outstanding academics.

Despite plenty of effort on both sides on Saturday, the host Eagle girls’ soccer team and visiting Middlebury settled for a 1-1 tie that was probably fair given of the quality of each team’s play.
