MALT adds new board members, ramps up conservation effort

Four new members recently were elected to the Middlebury Area Land Trust Board of Directors.

A new “Phone of the Wind” sits along the Trail Around Middlebury in Wright Park, offering a quiet place for anyone who has lost a loved one to send their words into the breeze.

“The choices we make here in Addison County — in our grocery stores, farmers markets, and yes, chocolate shops — are part of global conservation outcomes.”

At its core, conservation is about people as much as it is about land and nature.

The Middlebury Area Land Trust (MALT) later this year will lift the historic veil on what was a thriving mill industry near Salisbury Village during the 18th and 19th centuries.
