TAM’s new ‘Phone of the Wind’ offers people comfort in grief

FROM LEFT, GREG, Bruce and Tracy Wilhelm stand in front of the Phone of the Wind that they installed in Wright Park along the Trail Around Middlebury this July. Created in memory of their eldest brother and son, Luke Wilhelm, who died in a climbing accident at age 26 in March 2022, the Wind Phone is an unconnected rotary phone where visitors can “call” deceased loved ones and send their words into the breeze.
