Panton selectboard candidates outline their views

Two candidates are running for a seat on the Panton selectboard on Town Meeting Day. They are longtime incumbent Howard Hall and challenger Reece Jaring.

I am Elizabeth “Betsy” Almeter, currently a Trustee on the Lawrence Memorial Library Board. I have served a three-year term and am seeking re-election on March 4 as a write-in Candidate for a one-year term.

My name is Jess Venable-Novak and I am one of the Middlebury candidates running for the Addison Central School District School Board.

Without a doubt, the most crowded races on Bristol’s Town Meeting Day ballot this year will be those for seats on the Lawrence Memorial Library Board of Trustees.

New Haven voters on Town Meeting Day will weigh in on a two-person race for one of the town’s seats on the Mount Abraham Unified School District Board.

I am happy to be running for a position on the Bristol library board, having moved back to Vermont this year after living for 30 years out west.

Middlebury residents will see only one contested election on their May 4 Town Meeting Day ballot: A five-person race for three of the community’s seats on the Addison Central School District board.

There are contested Town Meeting Day races in two of the five communities that include Vergennes and the four other towns northwest corner of Addison County.

Due to expiring terms, potential races loom in March on the Vergennes ballot for mayor, three city council seats, two seats on the Addison Northwest School District Board, and one seat on the Vergennes-Panton Water District Board.

Governor Phil Scott pulled off a trifecta win in the latest election. The “most popular” governor in the country, a non-MAGA, conservative Republican in a liberal state, was easily reelected to a fifth term.

I was born with a moderate physical disability called Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita. Basically, the muscles in my legs never developed correctly. Therefore, I am quite skinny looking and have a particular walking gate.
