Lustig reaches 100-year milestone

Addison County on Sept. 12 welcomed another person into its 100-year-old club: Sylvia Lustig, a resident of the Eastview at Middlebury retirement community.

It wasn’t that long ago you could find Nancy Carey in command atop a loping horse, or nestled in a kayak, her double-ended paddle knifing through clear waters.

Many thanks to all who came to help me celebrate my 100th birthday.

Vergennes resident Margaret Clifford offers nearly a century of recollections, from losing her first husband to a World War II wound, leaving her with five children, to doing laundry for her large family in a river, to traveling the world. 

Louise Richards of Addison celebrated her 100th birthday lifting weights along with her friends from the “Bridport Defense League.”

As a young child Bill started living with his grandfather and step grandmother on a small farm in West Lincoln, and he went to the local one-room schoolhouse.
