DIANE MOTT WAS one of about 150 people who gathered on the Middlebury green in June in response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade, which lifted federal protection of women’s rights to choose whether to have an abortion or not. The Middlebury resident, who has worked for the last four decades as a social worker, planted herself right out front beside the event’s speakers with her homemade sign.
